• Relationship Description
Kael is the "sun" to Satsuki's "moon", in a sense; being the sunny and cheerful sort of fellow he is, while she is mysterious and detached. Satsuki came from a large high class family, valued for their unique abilities and Kael, from a middle class line of oddball spiritualists. Most of Satsuki's family thinks Kael is strange or unfitting for her, but he is earnest and determined, vowing to work hard and do whatever it takes to be a hero and protect Satsuki. In turn, she is both moved by and curious about the bright future Kael dreams of. Satsuki naturally has more refined mannerisms but keeps quietly reserved, while Kael tends to be nervous and awkward around girls; still, his genuine kind spirit shows through that innate clumsiness. The two have a lot to learn from each other; Satsuki teaches Kael a lot about thinking logically and controlling his emotions, while Kael helps Satsuki be more free spirited and enjoy life. So, in the end, despite how opposite they are, the two are able able to work in harmony; priding themselves in silent understanding and little gestures of affection. |

• Storyline
Synopsis: The oracles serving the Head Master in Solun, Kael's home village, began to sense war coming and thus, the Head Master decided to get in touch with an old comrade that had provided aid in past endeavors to help their situation. With his knowledge concerning dimensional gates, he once traveled to another land where he had met a man who could use his aura to do things such as heal wounds. However, when he finally met with his old friend, Jiao Long, and sat down to tea in their private garden, he found him to be sick and unable to travel very far. This man was in charge of directing his family as well, but was still waiting for his son, Bao Yu, to become the family's head. The Head Master was just beginning to worry his trip was for naught, when Jiao Long mentions his son did not inherit his aura abilities, but his granddaughter Satsuki had; and though she was next in line after her father, her cousin Satoshi could take her place. In light of this, he offers Satsuki to go in his stead, as a part of her training. The Head Master had no option but to accept, since they were short on healers and aura is a power they did not have. Still, he was worried she was not going to be enough or that she was too young and inexperienced...
However, when they arrived, Satsuki proved him wrong by discerning the condition of the injured Master she was sent to replace, as he was, after all, one of the main reasons they needed a healer in the first place. After being wounded during an ambush in an attempt to protect the village, he was alive, but his health was deteriorating fast, and though all the healers and traditional medicines were helping him stay alive, they were unable to fully heal him. They could not afford for him to die either, as he was second in command. At first, the Head Master had waited for him to recover, but there seemed to be no progress and he would have died if not for bringing Satsuki along. Of course, during the trip, he had left someone else in charge and made sure the healing Master would be monitored and treated. Luckily for him, they were now able to learn that it was a physical wound which was laced with a spiritual magic similar to aura, making it so that the wound wouldn't close. So during his long recovery process, they resorted to keeping him hydrated and on a high iron diet with supplements to produce more blood. Then, in order to fill his place and teach her aura powers to the students, it was decided that Satsuki would become a teacher at the Moon Temple, for the time being.
Exposition: Back in Solun, Kael thought he was beginning to live a humdrum life and his days were filled with teaching children and training; which he thought was starting to become pointless. Even the invigorating daydreams of a time where he could save the world, didn't seem to brighten his day as usual... Nothing was going on and time passed by slowly. Then Kael noticed the new teacher. How long had she been working here? It wasn't her look that got his attention, but her energy, or maybe her aura. He sensed she was quite different from others at the temple... but he wasn't sure how. Having faith in his supernatural abilities, he asked around about the new girl and found out that she was the new second in command and no one was sure where she originated from. Kael became curious and was determined to figure out who she was. He couldn't shake the feeling that she had some importance, and with all of the troublesome wars lately, he didn't want to take any risks while protecting his people from attacks.
At first Kael is very suspicious of Satsuki and spies on her. Though he is somewhat bad at this, and is lucky she wasn't looking at the time or that she was behaving seemingly careless as she knew she wasn't doing anything wrong to have a stalker in the first place. However, Kael had another problem; not only is the girl of his interest hard to get any leads from, but he has a practical fan club of girls pursuing him from the temple... This makes getting to her even more difficult. Sooner or later some of the other teachers who are close to him notice his interest in Satsuki and tease him as if he's romantically interested in her. Of course he tries to protest otherwise, but they don't take him seriously and ignore his pleas that she may be a threat of some kind. After a while it comes Kael's time to work alongside Satsuki and he realizes he cannot find anything peculiar about her, so he stops trying to spy on her. Instead he tries to get her to talk with him directly, though he makes a fool of himself most of the time, even to the point of sounding like he has a crush on her... though at the time he didn't mean it. Needless to say she gets to him and he starts to become frustrated.
Rising Action: One day, as Satsuki went through her usual morning routine, her thoughts drifted towards Kael's regular attempts at approaching her with his spying tactics. His actions were interesting to her, as no other individual had an aura as puzzling as his. He often hid his most troubling emotions behind a happy façade yet his blunt honesty when dealing with others was a contradiction to this very nature. Then it was his actual 'skills', he wasn't very secretive and even kind of silly as a detective; the fact she could simply sense him around didn't help either, so she decided there was no harm in keeping him in the 'dark' and went through her activities normally, though it proved amusing to see him still 'try'. He had asked once about her motives, or at least she thought he did, from what she could gather in his jumbled up speech, so Satsuki told him she was from a very honorable family and betrayal was the last thing on her mind, leaving her with nothing to hide. On the other hand, she could understand his worries because she was a complete stranger that had appeared in the midst of a war. Then all of a sudden, in the middle of her contemplation, a monster attacks. No one was sure why or how it got in the temple, but it was a huge wolf monster with razor sharp claws. The other Masters were having problems dealing with it because of its size and seeing this, the Head Master tells her it's time to prove to him she's loyal and that her abilities are useful. Satsuki barges into the fight and uses her aura to try and control the monster's thoughts, in order to weaken him so the Masters could take him on while he's confused and immobile. She explains that her powers work depending on the status or type of mind she's meant to try to control, becoming the conscious thought that steers them into the desired path or reaction. However, she's having problems controlling the beast's thoughts because the wild status of his mind and his size makes it more resistant to her influence.
While she's struggling, trying not to be dominated by the feral mind of the monster instead, the wolf manages to send an attack her way. Kael, who is nearby into the fray, notices this and jumps in to protect her. He manages to parry very well, but one of the other fighters who was a young Guardian-in-training, distracts him because debris is about to fall on him; this proves almost deadly as the monster manages to slash and cut Kael's back. He saves the student of course, and they manage to kill the monster thanks to the distraction and everyone's efforts. Realizing his injury, Satsuki uses her aura to heal Kael's wound to some extent, though not fully, because she's very exhausted. His endurance and resolve to protect those around him even at the prospect of pain manages to impress her, causing her to truly open up to him for the first time, and they end conversing about the fight and her abilities, as well as the Masters on the way back to their temples.
Climax: .
Falling Action: Kael and Satsuki are first and foremost, co-workers. Their jobs teaching students at the Sun and Moon Temples are very important to the entire region, because they train future generations of Guardians (a military program). So formalities are usually taken (such as calling each other by their last names, ex. Mister or Master Ch'ien and Miss or Master Tsukino). It doesn't help that the Sun and Moon Temples are two separate facilities, some distance from eachother; however, Kael's initial curiosity in Satsuki's sudden arrival helped pull the secluded young woman out of her shell and caused them to develop feelings for each other in the long run.
Since then they have been chosen to work together, so eventually they do become closer. Things like cooking meals, housework and errands are shared by the two, much like roommates. They don't always share living quarters, but visit each other often to the point it has become a habit to wake up to the others presence. Kael has also saved Satsuki on more than one occasion and given her gifts, as well as the gone on dates, or as each other's partner to a dance. So the fact they are a couple has gained recognition at the Temples since then.
More Things to Add (Under Construction)
Sun Dance
The Sun Dance is held during Summer. Satsuki knocked on Kael's quarter's/room's door, came inside and told him it was about time he woke up (I think he's late) but it was gentle, not like a scold (which she would have sounded if they were less familiar with each other at that point? i think they were more friendly/on better terms now than in the beginning, maybe even working together already). For some reason she started making breakfast for them both. Kael didn't get out of the bed and kinda just watched her the whole time. When she was done, she brought two trays and they started eating. Then Kael noticed the sandwich she was eating, it looked kind of weird? (the cheese in there and the honey sticking out, like dripping) and he made a funny face, and asked her what that was? So she told him it was a cheese & honey sandwich and he made a face like it was weird/gross and said "You sure have strange taste in food" and she looked at him like slightly annoyed? and all that nonsense. All the while Kael was trying not to laugh at her. I guess she noticed or felt it because she gave him a daring/challenge look? She asked him "How can you say it is weird if you've never tasted it before?" She finishes eating and gets up to go to her room but leaves the half-eaten sandwich in his tray, like challenging him to taste/eat it all then. In any case, Kael asks Satsuki (on the last day; it's afternoon now) to go wit him to the Sun Dance. She asks about it, somehow he ends up mentioning she won't look that much different because even though you dress up for the festival to look more fancy (and colors of the sun, not necessarily) her clothes are traditional looking all the time (like Japanese and fancy). So she's kinda pondering about that and after a moment asks him to go to the festival with his robes (the Japanese looking ones but they're different, more royal and darkish reds/yellows/etc.) He's all confused and she tells him to trust her so he leaves anyway and complies. When he goes to get her, he notices she's wearing a Chinese looking traditional dress. So he laughs like a heartwarming laugh and says, "So, your wonderful idea was to switch places?" and raises an eyebrow, but they both look happy, they leave to dance.
Moon Dance
There is a locked city with tall walls and lots of people inside. The sun temple in the middle. There were two guards at the main door of the temple and tons of girls outside it, waiting for something? And men had to ask girls to go to the ball/dance with them since for the Moon festival (held at midnight) the girls invited the guys. So the girls were waiting for Kael to go out of the temple/finish his training because they all wanted to be the one to go with him (people can't enter the temple without permission). I bet it wasn't safe to just walk in there and ask one of them. When he did go out, and stared at the girls, he looked uneasy/like oh god not again *sighs* like he was used to seeing that every year? But he was depressed about it rather than happy. And the other teachers/masters/guys (Jade/Do Ji/etc.) teased him as he walked out, saying stuff like, "Man, save a girl for us, will ya", and whistling and the like; I'm sure you can think of it. Kael was so embarassed about it. I have no idea how he got out of that safely... (Flesh out how Satsuki asks him. This is after the Sun Dance, since the Moon Dance is held during Winter).
Gift
Kael gives Satsuki some metal jasmine-shaped earrings. They were a little close. He wasn't so nervous around her and she was showing more emotion to him. It wasn't mushy but friendly or even best friends. It had a gentle feel to it, rather than purely romantic. They were by the koi pond and he was randomly talking about the fish like he was still a bit nervous. He had his back to her and she was just standing there, listening to him. Then he stopped, scratched his head and turned around? Then he just gave her a small pouch, didn't even say anything. She took it and opened it and saw the earrings and was like 'Oh', but a silly type of oh? not like super suprised or all happy oh. it was short after she discovered the earrings she was kind of taken back, but mentally? probably not used to receive gifts? so she was silent and he was getting very tense, doesn't help she's hard to read. a few minutes later she asked the obvious, 'Hmm is this... for me?" and I swear Kael made a mental facepalm? XD Anyway I think he was a bit pissed but in a good way? because next thing I know he's walking over to Satsuki and put the earrings on her ears, then takes her hand and pulls her to walk? they walk for a bit and then he motions for her to sit next to him. He's like guiding her, frustrated most likely, and they're both silent, so I suppose he doesn't give a damn? probably since he has a hard time not making a fool of himself when speaking? I think they also pride a bit in silent understanding, they just sit down in silence? and then she simply says, 'Thank you', a little embarrassed; and he smiles but not looking at her? Isn't a prideful smile either, just a kind smile and then he's like, 'Watch it, next time I might talk your ears off about what those earrings can do.'

Catastrophe: In the alternate timeline, in the future something goes awry (this affects all main characters in Aeter Euum negatively).
Their future selves come back to the past (before it happened) and warn their present selves (just after unlocking their full potentials), about what will happen and seek a way to alter the future. Apparently in the future Aiji had built a time machine in order to do so. Their future selves are of age to be married and also seem to have children. They bring them to the future to show them the effects on their world, as well as introduce them to their distant futures.
Resolution: In the end their futures are saved, and their past and present selves return to the proper times. In the distant future they will be successful, some married and with children and all on good terms to deliver the new generations into the world...
• Battle
Roles:
Kael and Satsuki's strengths are about even, except that Kael is more skilled in fighting and using his emotional strength, while Satsuki is more talented in magic and using logic and tactics. In fact she is able to conceal her emotions and suppress her aura so enemies cannot sense her; whereas Kael is the opposite, always loud and striking on the battlefield. He always wants to be the hero and save Satsuki, though while she doesn't resent this, isn't entirely taken by the gesture. Kael's specialty is fighting spiritual, undead and dark enemies. Satsuki uses supportive and effective aura magic. Using aura she can control the emotions and desires of both allies and enemies.
Weapons:
Kael fights using nunchaku and three-sectioned staffs. There are some subtle differences, nunchaku is small and close range, allowing quick movement and evasion, while three-sectioned staff is long ranged and larger, so it's slower but also reaches over shields easily. Kael is also trained in martial arts, so he can be a fair barehand fighter as well (considering his shoes, he could make for some lethal kicks).
Satsuki mainly uses a long staff, which she may fight with like a polearm or use to cast magic. She is also talented in martial arts and barehand fighting, as Kael is. It's a possibility that she uses her aura magic to give attributes to her weapons or physical attacks, as well (think like glowing energy covering her staff or fists, etc.).
Skills:
Kael's battle skills are mainly Chinese style martial arts such as Kung Fu. Due to his family's line of work he also has spiritual skills like that of a monk or shaman. Some skills pertain to nunchaku or three-section staffs separately, while some, like kicks, punches and war cries, require no specific weapon (or none at all). He uses various tools to deal with supernatural threats, such as seals or charms (will add more info. on that later).
Satsuki's battle skills (will add more info. on that later).
Magic:
Kael uses light elemental magic (his affinity), but also fire (taught at the Sun Temple). His accuracy and power with magic is lackluster in comparison with his combat skills, but would be useful when fighting enemies who are weak against these elements. However, his speed in casting magic is exceptional, so you can count on seeing blasts of many fireballs flying around him, rather than a single, well-aimed and concentrated spell...
Satsuki uses dark elemental magic (her affinity), but also water (taught at the Moon Temple). Her magic power outweighs her physical combat skills, so it is a preferred fighting method for her. Her magic takes time to cast but is powerful and effective (specifically aura, which requires a lot of time to focus and concentration in order to control the target's mind).
